Smart India Hackathon 2018 - Experience

To promote Digital India movement in India our Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi taken this huge step and introduced SIH-2018 in India so that we youngsters can participate and help them to solve some major issues which are caused in India by using our technical abilities.

We didn't knew anything about SIH, but we came to know about this on their mygov.in website where they mentioned that we can participate in this Hackathon and contribute our knowledge by solving some problems. We were really excited about this and after forming our team we submitted our idea proposal to their website as it was mandatory so that we can get selected.
It took around more than 1 months where we got the news that the final list is released. At that time my heart was really pumping hard and my hands were shaking while I was downloading the final list pdf. Once it was downloaded I quickly did Ctrl + F and typed our team name "Scripters" and after 2 - 3 seconds it showed the result. That moment was really joyful for me as well as for our team that we were selected for Finals and we were going for our first Hackathon.

After being selected we went to our center (Sagar Group of Institution, Bhopal) which was allocated by the SIH coordinators and on arriving we were filling up all the necessary details for the competition. We were so tired after traveling but at the same time we were very enthusiastic about the Hackathon.

Here is the image where registration was taking place.

As soon as our documents were verified we quickly went to our rooms for relaxing and after some time we went out for a quick walk. Inside college we were just seeing how beautiful it is and all of sudden we found the auditorium where Hackathon was going to take place and at first when we saw everything, it was really good and big. We quickly went to our seats where our team name was written and from there we realized how big this event is.

Here is the image showing the view from our seat:

As mentioned our team members consist of:

1. Shashank Sharma (Team Leader)
2. Swarup Hegde
3. Shashank Sengar
4. Divyank Pandey
5. Vaishali Sharma
6. Piyush Manglani
7. Prof. Uday Moghe (Mentor)

After all this we decided to have a little meeting where we discussed how we are planning to do our project and how we will be coordinating it and then we left the auditorium and went back to our room to get some sleep.

Next day, we woke up early and went to auditorium for our work. We were greeted by rose which was really kind of them and then we started our work over there.

We do had one introduction ceremony where they told us about all the instructions and the timeline about the Hackathon. While doing our work we were given enough refreshments to keep us going and coding non stop.
Our problem statement was to create one medium so that any victim can fill his complain against cyber bullying which he is facing. So we as a team planned to create a Django Web app and we all started working.

This is our work space while working for our project:

During night time also we were coding and trying to refresh our mind by taking refreshments and to survive we do had some coffee. After some short interval of time judges were also coming which really helped us a lot by giving their opinion and helping us to improve our project. Both judges were nice and listened to our project features and gave their reviews which we implemented it later.
With so many judging criteria we were doing great on our own. Next morning we do had one "Zumba Dance" event which was really funny yet nice initiative by SIH coordinators. We saw many people dancing and we really enjoyed that moment a lot due to which we were not feeling sleepy any more.

After this we had one last round of evaluation where the final judge came and asked us about the project, and somehow we did it beautifully but somehow I realized that we won't be able to win after seeing their expression but still we did out best. After all the evaluation judges were trying hard to find the top 3 winners and at last they announced the winner. We were a little disappointed but at the end we didn't won any position but the learning phase was really tremendous and astonishing. I saw great minds working on the project so seriously that now it really encourages us to work even more and try harder next time to do something new and great.

Now this image is something which I will remember it:

I would really like to thank to all the SIH team for organizing such beautiful event as we got to learn so many things from this and for sure we are planning to attend this event again in next year.

India's MP Transportation Analysis through Python

Python is really a powerful language and with proper use of it anyone can make beautiful things. After studying Python I was really impressed by its power and to be more specific I really love how we can scrape any website easily with the help of python. Scraping is a process of extracting data from website by their html data. So I learned its basic and started scraping many website. Recently I thought of creating something big through scraping but I was having no idea what to do. Then I came across with the site of MP transportation and I realized that they got so many data inside there website. The website is very simple, you open the site enter your transport number details and then search it. Then you will get result about your transport vehicle which includes type, color etc. With python2.7 I created one script to scrape because with python 3.x there were less support to some modules. I decided to go for 'last' search type because with others I was facing some iss
